Catch and Release Out the Door

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/06/us/politics/trump-immigration-policy.html
Catch and Release is the practice by which immigrants presenting themselves at the border without authorization are released from detention while waiting for their cases to be processed. They claim that it is not made to toughen up immigration policies it is just meant to end the catch and release practices. This memo comes as President Trump orders the National Guard to patrol the southwestern border, in this move he deployed 4,000 troops to the border. It was meant to push administration to move more rapidly in cracking down on unauthorized immigrants at the border.

"Zero Tolerance" On Immigration

https://www.texastribune.org/2018/04/06/feds-order-border-prosecutors-adopt-zero-tolerance-policy-immigration/

U.S. Attorney General Geff Sessions ordered federal prosecutors on the southwest border to adopt a "zero tolerance" for anybody who has tried or is trying to enter this country illegally. Geff Sessions said "To those who wish to challenge the Trump Administration’s commitment to public safety, national security, and the rule of law, I warn you: illegally entering this country will not be rewarded, but will instead be met with the full prosecutorial powers of the Department of Justice to the Department’s prosecutors, I urge you: promoting and enforcing the rule of law is vital to protecting a nation, its borders, and its citizens". The reason that Sessions gives for his comments is that he wants to minimize the "illegality" of the immigration system. In other words he wants people to come to the United States the legal way but little does he know that the legal way does not exactly work out the way everybody thinks it does.
It is sad that so many people think coming to this country by obtaining a travel visa or any other form of "legal" paperwork should be the first option but what they do not know is that it takes a lot of money to do so. I personally have witnessed somebody try to obtain a visa and have helped fund the process; it is not cheap. We paid around $300 just for the application and the meeting, $100 to get a passport (Mexican of course), $200-400 for travel (you have to travel to an embassy for the interview). All of that money just to get turned down. People do not see that side of it, if you do not have somebody in the United States helping you pay for it there is no way you could fund it unless you come from a well off family.

National Border Security Day

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/washington-secrets/cesar-chavez-elevated-to-anti-illegal-immigration-hero

Cesar Chavez is now being used as the focus of a new campaign who's focus is on "fighting illegal immigration". There has been talk about legislation being proposed to honor his birthday on March 31 and call it National Border Security Day and the group who is advocating for legislation is the Center for Immigration Reform. Cesar Chavez was against using illegal labor in order to replace the current migrant workers just because they were trying to gain better working conditions and better wages. According to the article the push for National Border Security Day comes because many companies are pushing for H2A (temporary work visa for foreign agricultural workers with a job offer for seasonal agricultural work in the United States) visas for lower paying immigrant work.

Opinions on Immigrants

http://www.latimes.com/opinion/readersreact/la-ol-le-immigrants-california-20180318-story.html

The article talks ab out how people do not have a problem with immigrants coming here the "legal way" but they have a problem with immigrants coming here the "illegal way" or without the proper paperwork. It talks about how people on the left do not classify immigrants as coming here illegally or legally. They also do not classify their status as being legal or illegal. Many people wonder why they do not use those terms and the reason that they think is because they believe that by not using those terms maybe they can gain more voters by the children of the people who do not have the voice. The article goes on to talk about how many immigrants just come here to make a better life for the family they have here or the family that they have back home. They still however believe that the United States cannot have open borders that it needs to have some sort of regulation on how many people enter the country and how they enter the country whether it be legally or illegally.

New Jersey and Immigration

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2018/03/you_forgot_to_use_the_word_illegal_are_attitudes_o.html

Many people in the state of New Jersey believe that immigrants who have lived and worked in the United States for at least two years should be able to keep their jobs and then apply for citizenship. The article says that only 32% of the population of New Jersey favored deporting immigrants back to their native countries. Many people think that the immigrants have positive contributions to the population and to the economy which is why they fight for the right of immigrants to stay in the United States and have a chance at the American Dream. Another lot of people believed that immigrants were a burden to society because they "take jobs, housing, and health care". Professors at universities believed that the reason there is a lot of anti-immigrant attitudes around the United States is because there is an economic crisis and they are looking for somebody to blame. The easiest group to blame would be the immigrants. It is unfair that the people would be targeted are the ones who do not have a voice and less fortunate.

Trump, Mexico, and El Salvador

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-immigration-trump/trump-urges-mexico-to-block-illegal-immigrants-from-el-salvador-idUSKCN1G71CM

Trump said that the Mexican government needed to do more to stop "violent illegal immigrants from El Salvador from entering the United States". He again refers to his long proposed wall but he keeps saying that Mexico needed to pay for the wall. Trump posted on twitter saying that U.S. law enforcement was removing gang members from El Salvador but that they continued to return and he added that “El Salvador just takes our money, and Mexico must help MORE with this problem. We need The Wall!”. This statement marks the second time that the Salvadorian president Salvador Sanchez Ceren has had to send the United States a formal protest the first time being the time comments were made by Trump where he called some immigrants homes "Shithole" countries.
