National Border Security Day

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/washington-secrets/cesar-chavez-elevated-to-anti-illegal-immigration-hero

Cesar Chavez is now being used as the focus of a new campaign who's focus is on "fighting illegal immigration". There has been talk about legislation being proposed to honor his birthday on March 31 and call it National Border Security Day and the group who is advocating for legislation is the Center for Immigration Reform. Cesar Chavez was against using illegal labor in order to replace the current migrant workers just because they were trying to gain better working conditions and better wages. According to the article the push for National Border Security Day comes because many companies are pushing for H2A (temporary work visa for foreign agricultural workers with a job offer for seasonal agricultural work in the United States) visas for lower paying immigrant work.

Opinions on Immigrants

http://www.latimes.com/opinion/readersreact/la-ol-le-immigrants-california-20180318-story.html

The article talks ab out how people do not have a problem with immigrants coming here the "legal way" but they have a problem with immigrants coming here the "illegal way" or without the proper paperwork. It talks about how people on the left do not classify immigrants as coming here illegally or legally. They also do not classify their status as being legal or illegal. Many people wonder why they do not use those terms and the reason that they think is because they believe that by not using those terms maybe they can gain more voters by the children of the people who do not have the voice. The article goes on to talk about how many immigrants just come here to make a better life for the family they have here or the family that they have back home. They still however believe that the United States cannot have open borders that it needs to have some sort of regulation on how many people enter the country and how they enter the country whether it be legally or illegally.

New Jersey and Immigration

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2018/03/you_forgot_to_use_the_word_illegal_are_attitudes_o.html

Many people in the state of New Jersey believe that immigrants who have lived and worked in the United States for at least two years should be able to keep their jobs and then apply for citizenship. The article says that only 32% of the population of New Jersey favored deporting immigrants back to their native countries. Many people think that the immigrants have positive contributions to the population and to the economy which is why they fight for the right of immigrants to stay in the United States and have a chance at the American Dream. Another lot of people believed that immigrants were a burden to society because they "take jobs, housing, and health care". Professors at universities believed that the reason there is a lot of anti-immigrant attitudes around the United States is because there is an economic crisis and they are looking for somebody to blame. The easiest group to blame would be the immigrants. It is unfair that the people would be targeted are the ones who do not have a voice and less fortunate.
